Services

Programs  

Classes are facilitated by experienced group leaders. You'll meet with other parents to share problems and get the support you need. You'll participate in activities designed to strengthen your family. Audio/video segments and role plays are used to demonstrate real life situations.

Each class has a Parent's Handbook which is available for a nominal fee. This book will become a permanent reference tool to help you understand and remember the information and skills presented in class.

Parenting Classes

Presentations that address specific topics such as Parenting the Challenging and Defiant Child, and Co-Parenting Through Divorce.

Family to Family Activities

 

For families with children age 0-4.
Monday Night Workshops

The Family Support Council also hosts a variety of workshops tailored around the community’s variety of needs and interests. Every Monday, 6:30pm-8:30pm.   

 

Healthy Beginnings A support and educational program for teen parents and pregnant teens located at Douglas High School. Also provided on an individual basis.
Parenting Young Children Special techniques and strategies for parents of children under six years of age.
Effective Parenting Offers basics parenting skills for parents of children ages 6-12.
How to Survive Your Teen

Parents learn effective skills in discipline, communication, encouragement, decision-making and problem solving.

Support Groups

G.A.P.

For grandparents or other relatives who are caring for grandchildren, nieces or nephews. Families come together for support, encouragement and referrals. Free on-site babysitting is offered. Free of charge.

Women's Support Group

Addresses the needs of victims of domestic violence as well as other issues women would like to discuss in a great, supportive environment.  Free on-site babysitting is offered.  Drop-ins welcome.  Free of charge.
